Aldwickbury Park Golf Club, Harpenden – Celebrating the Wedding of Steven & Chloe Hawes
It was a joy photographing Chloe and Steven on their wedding day as their love for each other shone out. This really matched the weather on the day, as we were really blessed with a gorgeously sunny June day. With these two factors in check I knew it was going to be a great day for the photography side of things.
The day started in a surprisingly calm and fun filled atmosphere at Chloe’s Mum’s house, where Chloe and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I love doing natural reportage style shots, just capturing what is happening around me as unobtrusively as possible, and the ‘bridal prep’ shots are one of the best opportunities to do this.
Next it was off to St Nicholas Church in Harpenden to capture the sense of anticipation of Steven and his groomsmen, before his beautiful bride arrived, and she didn’t disappoint! It’s such a pleasure to see couples relaxed and joyful when they are at the alter and Chloe & Steven were definitely in that camp. I captured some great shots of them looking lovingly at each other, as well as some full of laughter.
The church provided a stunning backdrop for the group shots before we headed off to the reception venue at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club. This is where we did their pre-wedding shoot earlier in May, which meant I knew exactly where to go for the best shots and settings. We were escorted in golf buggies to each of these locations where this time Chloe and Steven were totally at ease in the poses, having already practiced at their pre-wedding shoot.
On this occasion too I was able to capture some gorgeous shots at dusk, which really showed off the beauty and romance of the setting with our happy couple at the heart of the scene.
If you are planning on booking a wedding photographer be sure they include a pre wedding shoot or engagement shoot for this purpose alone. Not only does it put you at ease with the wedding photographer, but it also allows us to plan the route of the best locations so as to take up the least amount of time away from your guests on the big day.
The Gold Wedding Package that Chloe and Steven chose included coverage from Bridal Preps until after the first dance. This meant I could capture more of the fun as people let their hair down! I achieved some beautiful shots of their first dance followed by more reportage style shots of guests dancing, chatting and laughing at the fantastic Elvis entertainer.
It was a wonderful day and I feel privileged to have been chosen to capture some beautiful images of Chloe and Steven to treasure forever.
